Why Slate Heron

What sets these programmes apart

Research-grounded content

Every topic traces back to peer-reviewed behavioural economics literature — publicly available, honestly presented.

Conversation-led format

Sessions are discussions, not lectures. Participants shape the pace through questions and shared observations.

No advice, no pressure

Programmes are strictly educational. No financial recommendations, no upselling of products or instruments.

Quiet, reflective pace

Designed around the idea that meaningful change comes from observation, not urgency — a pace suited to the Bangsar neighbourhood we call home.

Tangible printed materials

Reading sets and workbooks are printed, not digital. Something to hold, annotate, and return to at your own pace.

Small cohorts, real discussion

Groups are kept small so every voice has space. You learn as much from fellow participants as from any text.

Common Questions

Things people often ask

Do I need a background in economics or finance to attend?
No background is needed. The programmes are written for curious adults, not specialists. The texts are accessible and the facilitation is conversational — the point is reflection, not expertise.
Will you advise me on my personal finances or investments?
No. Slate Heron programmes are educational. We do not hold financial advisory licences and we do not provide financial, investment, or therapeutic advice. If you need that kind of support, we are happy to point you toward the appropriate professionals.
How large are the groups?
The Reflection Notebook Workshop runs with 8–12 participants. The Reading Group and Considered Spender Cohort are kept to no more than 15 participants to maintain the conversational quality that makes these sessions worthwhile.
Where are sessions held?
Sessions take place at our Bangsar venue — 5 Jalan Telawi 3, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. The space is quiet, accessible by LRT, and easy to find. Specific session dates and times are confirmed upon enrolment.
What does the price include?
The Notebook Workshop (RM 540) includes the weekend sessions and a printed journaling set. The Reading Group (RM 1,180) includes all six sessions and a printed reading compilation. The Considered Spender Cohort (RM 2,490) includes all 10 sessions, a printed reader, a closing workbook, and access to the peer discussion forum.
Is there a waitlist if a programme is full?
Yes. If the cohort you are interested in is at capacity, let us know via the enquiry form and we will add you to the priority list for the next intake.
Can my spouse or partner join a different programme simultaneously?
Absolutely — and many participants find that household conversations become richer when both people have engaged with similar material, even through different formats. Each enrolment is individual.
