Postgraduate-level facilitation

What this means in practice
When a participant asks a question about Kahneman's framing effects or Thaler's work on mental accounting, the facilitator can engage with the actual text — not a secondhand summary. Each session pairs a short reflection prompt — something personal and observational — with a summarised concept from the reading. Participants move between their own experience and the published research, rather than receiving the research as abstract instruction.

The reading compilations are not photocopied articles or printed PDFs. They are properly typeset, with consistent margins and typography, designed for the kind of slow reading that allows annotation and return. This is a deliberate design decision, not a cost-saving measure.

Much of the popular money psychology content is written for North American or European audiences. Slate Heron's facilitation and discussion examples draw on spending contexts relevant to life in Malaysia — household dynamics, festive spending patterns, social obligations, and local cost-of-living pressures.
